And then it snowed...and snowed...and snowed

Taken yesterday afternoon about four hours after the snow had begun falling.
We were in the midst of a little lull so it doesn't look too bad does it?
The big dog kept coaxing us to toss the Frisbee.

Of course we had to throw the Frisbee for a game of catch.
Or listen to the big dog bark, and bark, and bark...

Later Thursday evening the snow began again in earnest.
But see that tiny little black blob in the center of the pic?
Yep, the big dog STILL wanted to play Frisbee.

Woke up to see a LOT of snow and MnDOT reporting hazardous driving conditions (purple).
For the first time in my ENTIRE career I called in and worked at home.
I'm a native Minnesotan - I NEVER do that...

At about 8 am I peeked out the front door.
It could be worse! We could have been snowed in completely,
or lost our power like many others in the area.

And look who was right there wanting to go outside and look for the Frisbee.!

I snapped a picture of the back yard right before hubby began to clear snow.
I was glad to see we only had one small branch fall due to the heavy snow.

The front view a few hours later after hubby dug us out.
You can't really get a true sense of how high the snow is piled in our front yard.
Let's just say backing out of the driveway is very, very challenging as snow is piled higher than the car.

The back view after hubby cleared off the patio.
And the big dog is loving those deep drifts and mounds of snow.
I expect we'll discover the big dog standing on top of one of them soon :-)

The roads never did improve much.  While the snow has been removed there is a layer of ice on the roadways that likely won't melt completely for some time as we are headed for single digit temps - again.

Sigh.....

  3. p.s. I hate the ice more than the snow. It's going to be almost 50 here today but there are still patches of ice around--crazy!
